Responsibly made and super cozy!
In the hope that "Made in the USA" actually still does mean "responsibly made", I wanted to offer a shout-out to my new favorite responsible-I-hope merchant, Ibex. They claim to manufacture everything in the USA, plus these are fabulously warm sweaters. I finally bought a jacket I'd been coveting and it is not only toasty warm but actually breathes better than other jackets I own, so I didn't overheat. Highly recommended!
REI, as well, has been carrying an increasing number of garments that claim to be "made in Canada of USA fabric." I am feeling more skeptical lately that corporations that claim to be responsible actually are; but there's always the chance that these garments aren't made in sweatshops. I sure hope they aren't.
